I am very, very sad.
A long awaited review copy of a video game arrived yesterday. I was so excited to tell my eight year old when I picked him up from school. I knew we wouldn’t be going to karate that night.
And he WAS excited.
Then we got home. Opened the game box and turned on the TV.
And this is what we saw.
I was aghast!
I was enraged!
I was in tears!
Beyblades went straight in the bin!
The game was put away!
Screen time was banned!
I loved that TV. It was an LG LED TV.
I am very fond of LG products. We have a lot of LG products.
This TV was newly released late last year and I bought it at a heavily discounted price. It is likely that the repairs will cost more than what I paid for it. So, I am very, very sad…
And when transferring my contents insurance to our new address, the insurer forgot to transfer the “Accidental Damage” bit of my policy. And I never received the new policy paperwork. So they make a mistake and then decline the claim. That makes me very, very angry….
Yes, it’s only stuff. But it was a nice piece of stuff. Everybody said so. The picture quality, the features, the connectivity!
We don’t have a lot of nice stuff. Now we have even less.
Tomorrow, I will move the lesser, smaller, less nice LG TV that sits in my bedroom, into the family room. Because I have committed to review the video game.
I have decided not to replace or repair the big nice LG TV, because I simply cannot afford it, unless I am successful when I lodge a complaint with the insurance company and then with the Ombudsman.
It is a lesson in consequences that the kids (and me) have to learn. Hitting nice, big LG TVs with anything, but a balloon, causes irreplaceable damage. Having toys of any kind around a nice, big LG TV is highly inadvisable. Breaking a nice, big LG TV, means no nice, big LG TV for us to enjoy.
To their credit, both boys have decided that they will forgo their pocket money and presents until I have enough to replace or repair the nice, big LG TV. That will take, a long, long time….
I wonder if LG Australia would like to hire a blogger as their brand ambassador and give them a nice, big TV in exchange?
